Cannabis is increasingly used in both sweet and savoury recipes. It can be eaten raw, like an aromatic herb or infused in oils and milks. Its very distinctive taste allows us to create new flavours. It is important to know a few basics to get started in baking with cannabis. Just in time for summer: dip your toes in cooking with cannabis with your own homemade ice cream recipe! It’s easy and we’ll show you how.

The basics

It’s important to know that cannabis is fat-soluble and not water-soluble. That means it dissolves better in oils or fats. To fully enjoy the effects of THC or CBD, it must be heated in oil without exceeding temperatures 170°C/340°F. The more fatty the product used is, the more THCs will tend to infuse.

The dosage

About 30 to 60% of cannabinoids will be preserved after infusing high-quality marijuana.

Coconut oil will retain more terpenes than any other vegetable oils. Milky fats, such as butter, will also concentrate more THC than vegan milks.

To prepare pastries without the effects of THC, you can use strong CBD oils. The oils are best used to bake biscuits or cakes.

To create any edible products, it is necessary to use quality buds with a rather high THC concentration. Discover a variety of Canadian mail-order cannabis of the highest quality on Boutique Cannabis.

Cannabis infused ice cream recipe

We offer you this delicious recipe with raw and vegan ingredients which is very easy to make.

You can replace almond milk with any type of milk by taking into account the below-mentioned dosage advice. Almond milk has a high content of natural fats, and the fact that it’s homemade makes it even better!

Infused milk

  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/4 cup  raw almonds
  • 3 to 5 grams of ground cannabis (depending on the strength)

  • Soak the almonds in water overnight, then blend the mixture.
  • Filter.
  • Put the filtered almond milk in a saucepan, heat it at a very low heat temperature and gradually add the ground cannabis. Slowly simmer for 1 hour.
  • Allow to cool and filter again.

Ice cream

  • 2 frozen bananas, 1 raw banana (optional)
  • Milk infused with cannabis
  • Any ingredients you want to add such as: chocolate, nuts, syrup, fruit, flavours, etc.

  • Freeze the bananas without the peels.
  • Mix them with the infused milk. The consistency of this base depends on the ingredients you will then add.
  • If you use powder such as cocoa or grated coconut, you will need a liquid base. You can add a little bit more milk to neutralize it, if the consistency is too thick or chunky.
  • If you add agave or maple syrup, choose a thicker base. Add a little more banana to make it thicker.
  • Then add the thicker pieces of chocolate, fruit or nuts to your liking.

Freeze again and enjoy!

Bananas give a smooth texture and their taste balances the cannabis flavour. These aromas go very well with coffee, chocolate, pecans, maple syrup, strawberries, cherries, mint…

It’s up to you to add whatever your heart, and taste buds desire!
